Gang? I think the correct word would have been group. I guess that shows your political correctness..lol. In any event, would you feel worried if a group of goths, gays, militia, bible thumpers, etc. approached you? Probably. So why the fixation on the black race when there are soooooo many other things one could be intimidated by. Furthermore, would you feel better if the blacks were wearing suits? Yea, I think you've got a lot of work to do.

Political Correctness is the public attitude that you display, so that your bias is not noticeable. It's how you pretend to view the world.
As long as you don't tell anyone that you are afraid of the "gang of black males", then you are still being PC.
You can cry, later, when you get home. Or, during therapy.

If a group of black males approached you and you automatically assumed they were bad people, then that would probably be racist. But it's clearly a *gang*, then that's cause for concern, regardless of the color of their skin. It's one thing to be politically correct, but you also want to be realistic and sensible.

No, if a group of any kind approaches you, you have no reason to be extremely nervous (nervous is fine, everyone gets nervous if they're alone and a group of people is coming, I'm a woman and I'm always nervous if I'm alone around men, cuz I'm cautious.) unless you can tell...read body language, you can usually tell when something's bout to jump off and that's when you take necessary steps to avoid it. The black boys won't prolly even give you time of day and just happen to be walking in the opposite direction of you minding their own business. Same with a group of white boys, hispanic boys, asian boys, etc. PC is overrated.

First I think political correstness is BS and is why we continue to have problems in this country. In order to improve things people have to discuss racism even when feelings get hurt. BTW racism goes all ways blacks, whites hispanics all of us have racist factions. The other part of this answer is I would cross the street regardless of color just because lots of the young people in this country have lost all respect for others.

As a woman, I would be concerned if a group of any color young males approach, ESPECIALLY if I were walking alone. Better to be safe than sorry. And to forgo anyone saying that I'm racist...I'm a woman of color.

Clutch your pocket where or money is or your purse, do not make eye contact and cross the street. All the while pressing 9-1-1 into your phone, so in case anything happens you can just send it right away.

if a group of anything approaches you, worry about it. me being female I get nervous around a large group of men of any race if I am the only woman around. I know not all men are bad but I am not willing to take a huge risk...I keep myself straped and it is legally registered!

Don't be worried because they're young.
Don't be worried because they're black.
Don't be worried because they're males.
Be worried if you're sure they're a gang and they really are approaching you (who wouldn't be?)
And please, don't try to be politically correct if you really are prejudiced. It doesn't change a thing.
