Interesting question... first of all I would pick one of the best teams such as the Patriots or Colts. Pick passing plays because if you are playing at the persons house your are playing with (and you pick a running play) they can see where your going and stuff you at the line of scrimmage. Picking a passing play lessens the chances of your opponent stopping you. Have fun... hope you win!

PS. pick some one like the Falcons (you can scramble and rush with michael vick and that really pisses your opponent of... do it several times)

I usually play with the Cowboys or Colts.

On offense, I usually go with the shotgun formation, and I pick pass plays where the receiver going out will go deep. Crossing routs work really well too I've found, especially to Jason Witten of the Cowboys.

On defense-I usually pick Dime, and always use the all out blitz with it. I've found that it doesn't work well against the computer, but works really well against a human opponent.

For my secret weapon-I read the instruction book and figured out how to use the audibles. They work great. An audible is when you pick a play, and when you line up to execute, and you see what formation your opponent is in, you can change the play if you see a mismatch. For example if you pick run, and they line up in a run defense, you can audible to a passing play, and catch them off guard. Hope this helps some.

--When throwing the football, let the wide reciever WR catch it don't try to control him. Move your fastest WR to the #3 position when utilizing the shotgun or singleback position, this normally ensures that you get a slower, less gifted coverage man.
Run the football. Everbody tries to throw on everydown. When using a throwing set (shotgun, singleback) try running the ball, your opponent will usually be in a coverage setup for interception. When in a running set (I formation, pro-set) try throwing the ball from time to time to keep him honest.
Flirt with your opponent. Suck on an ear lobe, whatever, just to keep his head out of the game.

use the colts, with payton manning you will be able to pass all over the place, look at your opponets defensive backs and look to the sides that are weak and stack that side with marvin harrison and brandon stokley, leave wayne on the other side and possible aaron moorhead over there too. for insurance incase the stack the one side with harrison. harrison will be your best bet for a reciever but if your opponet is any good he will double guard him which leaves one of your other recievers open or with only a outside linebacker on him. also use short passes such as curls or drags or outs. and dont try'n scramble with payton manning, he is one of the slowest quarter backs in the game. you also have edgerin james to do plays such as hb draw part way through the game. but dont do it over and over again if it works, because it wont, your opponet will start to blitz and then you will be able to pass deep to one of your taller recievers on the weak side of the defense. if manning goes down during the game, then bypass the backup quarterback and go straight to jim sorgi, he is the future of the NFL.

don't over react to a play. stay in control. you'll feel like you are giving up yards on defense, but you really aren't. don't get fancy, and you should be fine
