...it's because the answers to the small issues such as abortion and gay marriage are the SIMPLE ISSUES TO PROVIDE ANSWERS TO...

for both questions the answer is NO and HELL NO !

Global warming, alternative fuel, homelessness and war are far too complex to pontificate simply because they are philosophical questions that have been plaguing mankind for a very long time. Basically the Administration would perfer to keep the status quo.
Also kep in mind that all of these issues CREATE REVENUE for the ruling class and the administration.

Why would he as president want to fix things that don't neccesarily affect him in his lifetime and perpetualy feed money into his pockets?

You have to understand IDEALOGY to understand why Bush doesn't worry about things like war and homelessness. His daughters aren't fighting in Iraq right?
He has a place to live and adequate security right?

He is not worried out the 295 Million Americans that have to worry about these things because ultmately if we die, it barely affects him - just his poll numbers - which ultimately dont affect whether he stays in office or not.

If you wanna MAKE presidents care about all the issues you should help create a system which can remove presidents who are seen by the public as doing a poor job. Afterall, Bush's No Child Left Behind system is able to remove teachers and school staff that are unsatisfactory right?
Why should his job be any different?

Well, he was working on social security reform, the illegal criminals and education, when 9/11 happened.

Things changed a bit that day, as we were given a very violent slap and were awakened from our blissfull ignorant slumber.

To say Bush ignores things like the war is outright hilarious. He ignores the war???? Are you kidding? If anything he over does it.

He has made numerous speeches and begun working towards research that would result in alternative fuels, in fact he is very eager to begin this.

You have to address core problems like feeding, housing,"educating" and giving medical care to 20 million illegals first, before you can do anything about our homeless population. Unfortunately, these law breaking criminals with no regard for this country other than treating it like a big free ATM, well, they take up a whole load of money, police time, and other social welfare programs that are designed to aid our own less fortunate.

Until countries like Mexico or Guatemala address their own problems and the lefty ******* in this country put our own people first, this problem will never be solved.

Because Bush has a limited intellect that doesn't explore beyond the simple answers that are given to him by his handlers. He doesn't seek out opinions different from his own. If one looks at his life, we see that this is a common pattern. Every task he has taken up he has ultimately failed at, whether it be the various businesses he has driven into the ground or the elected offices he has served in. Had he sought out alternate opinions and alternate perspectives he might have accomplished something quite significant. Fact is he squandered one of the most significant opportunities given any President after 9/11 and instead of going down as one of the greatest American Presidents he will be looked upon as one of the most mediocre.

if you talk to others they will say he is speeding too much time on the war, as for alternative fuel sources this administration is the only one that has devoted so much time and resources (i.e. funding) to find a useable alternative....as for trivial issues, yes they do seem to get the most of the press just like all the bad, don' t you think its just a little suspicious that the only press you hear about bush is bad? and as for he's avoiding some issues while focusing on others you are aware that although bush is president is he like his predecessors are little more than figure heads, yes they have veto power etc. but its congress and the house they do the pushing and deciding of issues. like the war, everyone wants to blame bush exclusively for that but it was congress - rep and dem alike who voted for it. everyone wants to blame just one person in all this mess but bottom line there is a lot of blame to spread around and bush is only one man, unlike other countries he is not a dictator who can do as he pleases. consider your sources for getting info on what you are hearing, they tend to only print that which they either agree or disagree with and wants important to them. there are many, many bills being discussed and decided on everyday, there are many issues being worked on and dealt with everyday....try delving a little deeper into the truth than cnn, fox, or msnbc....they are all biased to some degree whether conservatively or liberally. the thing is most normal conservatives and liberals tend to agree on many issues its the extremists on each side that get the press and cause problems.

Because Bush won the election on 0.05 percent of the vote. Issues that you see are small and trivial are the issue that 1% of the population gets off the but and votes on.

If more people voted, this 1% wouldn't have the power that it does, but our democracy is broken so this is what happens.

All he does is talk about these things. He cant win for losing. Nobody is happy with a thing.
Ya can't make all of the people happy all the time, so shut up & listen to him occasionally instead of all the bush bashers....

I tell ya.... sure a lot of ya bashin but if I'm not mistaken we had not 1 but 2 elections... go figure.

Bush loves distractions. It takes the public focus from the real issues. George Bush is not good at finishing anything. He has to keep running because he does not want to confront the beast he has created.

there are over 250 million people in the US, and all those issues you mentioned are important to someone who can vote....and i'll say it til i am blue in the face: we won't be in the right place politically until we evolve to a legitimate three party political system: then the dems and the pubs will get the thumbs out of their butts

Because it's an election year and he wants republicans to think he still knows what he's talking about... He's using gay marriage, abortion, and stem cell research as distractions to keep his buddies in office.

Because George Bush has no idea how to solve any real problems, so he either has to invent non-problems to solve, or put out the wrong solutions to less important problems.
