This web site has free videos and is an excellent resource for learning how to knit.

If you want an easy to understand knitting process, pick up a copy of Stitch and *****, a great book for begining knitters. It shows you the basics, and gives you a ton of great patterns, from handbags to bikinis! For more crazy patterns, try Stich and ***** Nation!

http://learntoknit.lionbrand.com/
this website seems to be very easy to understand. i bought a kit and that is how i learned. It is similar to crotchet or however you spell it. if you go to the store and see the different brands of yarn then you can usually go to their websites and they have free knitting and crotheting patterns there. i hope i helped.

Go to the library or book store and pick up the book "Stich & *****". It's easy to read and shows you how to knit simple scarves and so much more! :)
Sorry I had to censor the second word, but it really is the book title!
