Please don't say "Because it's murder!!!" because that is so played out. I'm pro-choice because I think the women should be in control of her future, not the crazy protestors and so-called "do-gooders" However people get so angry about this issue. Why?

Abortion isn't an issue of whether or not you should have sex. Its an issue of whether or not to remain pregnant.

It is such a big issue because people can rap their heads around the issue without much thought. Some people think it is murder and some people don't. There is no middle ground unless you just don't care. Anytime you have an moral issue that people relate their faith with, you can get that person to the voting booths. The Republicans tell their voters that they will try to end abortion but don't tell the voters that this is impossible to achieve because the majority of Americans support pro choice. The politicians do not want to over turn Roe v. Wade because they no it cant be done and they if they did it would be the end of the Republican party as we no it. You cant tell millions of Women what to do with there body and expect them to vote for you.

As a Brit, we find it ludicrous that such a personal issue is so politicised. Not even in Catholic Ireland, Spain and Italy where it is mostly illegal do you see such vorciferous protest as in the US. The UK laws in place make it safe and legal but unfortunately not as rare. But in no way is this issue a political football.

The vast majority of people are pro-choice and would say that it is absolutely nobody else's business. It's fine to have an opinion but in terms of government and the courts designating and judging is unheard of.

A sizeable percentage of abortions are women coming over to the UK mainland from Ireland. I would rather know that these desparate women were safe and healthy. Beyond that, the choice to have an abortion is between the individual, their conscience and God (for believers).

"because it's murder" is 'so played out'??? what if someone killed a friend of yours, you asked why it was wrong, and someone said 'because it's murder' would you say, "well murder is so played out"???
Obviously, you don't think this way, but you asked why people get so angry, I'm trying to explain it to you. For many people, it is exactly like someone taking the life of a person already living, breathing, walking around. For many people it's like a mother killing her 3 year old, because she didn't want to be a mom.
A lot of people believe that babies are living beings, even before birth, therefor, to them, abortion is taking away a life (or murder). That's why abortion is such a big controversy. For people believing in their hearts that the most innocent of lives are being lost at their very beginning this is an extremely upsetting issue--and it's even more upsetting that a lot of times this loss of life happens in such a casual manner. Abortion doesn't just happen because of risks to a mother. very often it is treated like a manner of birth control.
Anyway, you believe what you believe, i believe what I do, Neither one of us will change our minds--hence the big controversy.

Because It is really wrong that people's parents gave birth to them and they should pass the gift on by having the kid.....No one has the right to take a life away ... besides if they were able to sleep with someone they should bear the consequences ....If the dont want the kid let some1 else adopt it there are sooo many people that want to have a kid but arent able to...... Though I have to be honest and say if the pregnancy is a danger to the parent maybe then they could have an abortion other wise no......thats what I think!!!

Shouldn't the child have a say in whether he or she lives or dies? What about the child's future? People become angry about this issue because it involves the intentional killing of innocent human beings. Would you become angry if someone beat a toddler to death in front of you, or ripped the legs off a living puppy? If so, why does it surprise you that pro-lifers become emotional about the death of unborn children? Have an open mind and take a look at:

You say, "Please don't say "Because it's murder!!!" because that is so played out." Then you say "women should be in control of her future". Which is so played out itself. If you want to be so in control of your future why don't you start by controlling your present? If you do not want to have a baby why don't you start thinking about it before you get pregnant? I really feel we do a very poor job of defending the Innocent in this matter. Women make a choice to have sex or not to have sex then the Innocent child must pay for this irresponsible woman's choice when she decides the child is inconvenient. Women want to protect baby seals in Alaska (which I'm not against) but don't care about the innocent unborn children here. I think this is a bit hypocritical.

It is unfortunate that there are groups in our society who like to make life decisions for everyone. Most of the laws in our state governments are there because of a high profile group of protesters, high moral do gooder, those who believe they know wat is best for everyone, and the laws are passed to gain votes. I don't know where my question went that asked since when is the individuals choice to marry (gay or not) become an issue for the constitution of the U.S. Those who believe they are morally superior should live in a separate area, watch only local programming, work only with same sex individuals to cut down on office affairs, and keep their opinions to their own group. They should not be an elected official who is supposed to represent us ALL!

it is the choice of killing an unborn child. everyone gets in a tizzsy when it comes to little babies and such. but I'm of the thought that if this child does grow up, unwanted and treated like so, what kind of life would it be for them? true they could be adopted or something like that but then what will that child think when it comes to realize it's REAL mom didn't want anything to do with them? i think it's her choice and it's not an easy one to do but if she can live with her choice then it's her decision, not some nutjob bible thumping pervert or whoever.

Yes, women are in control of their futures and if they want good futures they shouldn't have sex and get pregnant by men who they aren't married to. Do you seriously think it is okay for a woman to kill her innocent flesh and blood because she made the mistake of having sex? I personally think that is the most unhuman thing to do.

Ignorance.
It is always easier to hate something when it is not understood.
If these people would worry about keeping a clean house instead some of ones uterus and reproduction preference, it would be a better world.
