In about 10 days I am going to six flags with my step sisters and there bfs in Arlington and I told them that I will ride a lot of roller coasters, well now my stepbrother is going with his cousin and my stepbrother said I could be his partner for the roller coasters because he likes to ride EVERY thing and he said he would ride with me, I told him I will not ride the wooden ones and he said ok but I said I would ride everything else. I dont want to come clean and say I have a bad fear of roller coasters to them cause they will not take me and I want to go, and they are paying for my ticket. I rode one a year ago with my mom, that one thats white wood and a small rollercoaster, and I dont remember the experience except I held my breath and kept my eyes closed. I dont want to tell them I have a fear of roller coasters. What do I do????? I want to go really bad but I feel like I will have a nervous break down in line cause in the line there is no turning back, WHAT DO I DO!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

you have 2 choices:
1. suck it up and face your fears - i happen to LOVE roller coasters so i know that i can't really see it from your point of view, but you should know that once you go on a real big, bad, scary one that the rest seem wimpy. if you are not EXTREMELY scared of roller coasters and only a little nervous, go for it!
2. come clean and tell your family you don't want to - if you are deadly terrified of roller coasters then this is the correct option. you should not be forced to do anything that frightens you, and they can not make you. i would only pick this if i felt like there was nothing in the world that i was more afraid of than roller coasters.
as i have tried to explain - it all depends on HOW SCARED you are. just a bit nervous of heights, option 1. scared out of your mind, option 2.

The wooden Coasters are a lot different than the rest. I love Roller Coasters but very much dislike the wooden ones. Give the others a try you may be pleasently surprised. Have Fun, that's what it's all about.

I don't like that feeling either. At Disney MGM, I feared the Hollywood Tower of Terror because it was a free-fall. Now, the Acrophobia in Six Flags Atlanta gave me the worst feeling ever. But after getting on the Tower, I yelled it off in excitement and I didn't feel a thing. Roller Coasters are NOT bad like the free-falls, and you will yell it off, either in fear or excitement.
You can do it. Remember, yell. It will help you.

You can help prevent that feeling in your stomach by pushing out your stomach muscles and brace your arms against the front of the car.
Life is short, enjoy the coasters.
The worst that could happen is you die a quick painless death when the cars plunge 120 feet down onto the cement.
The odds of that happening are far less then just dying in a car accident coming or going from the park.

Maybe you could suggest that when you get there, that you start with the smaller coasters and work your way up to the bigger ones? Perhaps starting small, you might be able to work your way up slowly to going on something bigger?
Or if you were really too scared after the first one, you should probably come clean and tell them you found it scary! I'm sure they'd be understanding as you at least tried to go on one, even though you're scared.
Try doing breathing exercises while you're in line to try keep yourself calm. Breathe nice and slowly and deeply, that can help to keep you a bit calmer!
Good luck!

You seem to only have a few choices.
Say nothing and ride the roller coaster
Say nothing and make lame excuses for every ride.
Tell the truth.
I would tell the truth, but I would also try to ride a roller coaster.
I use to be very afraid of them myself. But my daughter rode one at Astroworld a few years ago, and wanted me to go on it with her. I did, and it scared me at first, but when it was over I realized it wasn't as bad as I thought. Now the ones that I was most afraid of seem a bit boring.
I hope you go. And I hope you get to enjoy yourself.

you have probably heard this before, but roller coasters have been tested over and over in order to ensure that its safe. these people are the best- they have been trained, its their profession. they know what they are doing and they do it will. IT WILL BE SAFE. when you are at six flags, its just mind over matter. its all right to be scared, but don't let it show. just go on the ride-its all WILL power baby!

I have the same problem. Some of those rides leave me dizzy and gagging. Just go on the harmless looking ones and don't feel pressured into going on any ride you don't deem safe or wouldn't enjoy. Maybe even play in the arcades. Have fun.

The wooden ones are rough and jerky.. since you rode a wooden one ONCE, maybe that was a bad experience... I LOVE rollercoasters, but I hate the wooden ones because they are so rough with me.
Maybe you should try one, and see if you can overcome your fear.
If it scares you too bad, then say you got sick and you can't ride another one.
Have fun!!!

Uh...I dunno....you could just stick it out...but I wouldn't have told them you wouldn't go on the wooden ones, cause they're usually the easier ones to go on cause they're smaller...but...when you got there you could tell them that you were didn't like the roller coasters and they probably wouldn't have a problem...I don't think...
