18% of 100 = 18

Therefore multiply the number by 18/100 (0.18)

In excel enter the number that you want to find the percentage for in cell A1.

in cell A2 enter the formula =A1*0.18

Iif you want you can enter 18% into the second cell (A2)

and make A3 do the maths

A3=A1*(A2/100) (the divide by 100 is dependant on whether the cell is set up as a percentage!!)

This will mean that you can modify the percentage easily.

I am cutting+pasting one of my previous replies because the question is almost identical.

Homework!
If you have been asked to do this but don't know how then you should ask your teacher. Understanding the principles will do you far more good than just asking a random bunch of strangers for an answer. This really is a simple question so you should be trying to understand what % means instead of just asking for an answer.

As a person totally unqualified as a teacher I will do my best to explain.

% means hundredths, 1% is one hundrendth, 200% is double.

18% of something is 18/100 ths of it so the answer to your question is

18*number/100

But seriously if you don't know how to do this then you should ask a teacher for clarification.

SUM = B2/100*18

The formula would allow you to use the number in cell B2 to be divided by 100 then multiply by 18 to give you 18% of the number in B2.

=0.18*numberinquestion Or, if it's a number in a particular cell and you would like to multiply that one by 18%, it would be =(A2)0.18 or whatever cell it's in.
