I have noticed that atleast 75 - 80 percent of the questions asked on Answers are either grammatically incorrect, or are so poorly constructed and full of mispelled words that it makes you wonder if the asker even went to school. There are questions that I don't even attempt to answer because I can't make sense of them. Has the educational system in this country gotten so bad that most of the population can't make themselves understood due to a lack of skill in the written word? I am beginning to think so!

First, I believe it has to do with the nature of online communication. To replace speaking with typing, speed is sacrificed. To increase speed in communicating with each other, spelling and grammatical mistakes are tolerated. Second, the anonymity of Yahoo!Answers protects people's real identities, lowering the embarrassment factor. Third, it is also a very casual environment here. I suspect that the people who post here are capable of writing much better pieces if they were writing a resume or a job application cover letter.

It would be nice if more people would include relevant details about their situation before asking the question. Most people are not giving adequate information to enable others to respond intelligently, so people - start doing it!

Since we are all human, we all have flaws. Have a little compassion and just be content with the fact that we can all ask and answer questions.
