To me it is not acceptable but that is mainly due to me knowing how to do 3/4 of it and using instructions can do the whole thing. :)
In the 70's they had books you could buy to tell you how to do the rubiks cube.
I think the only person you are cheating is you so it is up to yourself.

Yep! I think so. It would be acceptable to me.
I think the whole thing with rubiks is over rated. Being able to sort a Rubuks doesn't make you able to sort your life.

No Doubt. I used to take them apart, as well as re-sticking the stickers. People used to give me them to solve when I was in 5th grade and that's what I would do! Frankly, its the only Sane solution

It's really up to you. But I think the self-satisfaction of solving it normally would feel much better.
And peeling the stickers is easier. :)

when i was young i used to take all the coloured stickers off and put them back in order.my parents thought i was a child genius.

hahah !! i used to do that ALL the time as a child !! I had nooooo idea how to do the bloody thing ! usually ended up embedded in a wall !!
