I am in fairbanks alaska and I know that animals are dieng in shipment, they are being shipped in winter at -60 deg in a plane cargo hold, when i recive they are dead, i cant do anything about it because manager stands over all shipments and i can not have camera, they are very sneeky at hidding these things, i know !, can any one help me with this, i would love to send pics to the media here and to the airlines(alaska airlines) they are just as responsible, they can say "no" we can not ship animals in winter to alaska. i used to work at petco in texas. It was an infuriating job because the animals really do come last. I was always pestered to do plan-o-gram or stock...when i really needed to feed/water/clean the animals. I always told management to let me do my job first--the id do whatever they wanted me to. i was always hassled to hurry up--because of stock or cashiering. (i was the only member of management stuck on that register-the rest sat in office and played games.)
we'd even recieve parent-raised birds and were told to sell them as hand-fed. (a tamer bird than parent-raised) hand-fed* birds were higher in price too. The mark-up on animals was about 75%.
as for the camera--if u do get a spy-one that attaches to clothes or glasses, be prepared to be fired when they see the tape. Thats why there's so much secrecy at petco

I have seen many animals at Petsmart but did not see any that were abused.

I would never buy anything from "PETCO" their stores are dirty & smelly. The staff is useless, where I live anyway. PETSMART IS A GREAT STORE!!!
