Free Limited Highway-has exits, entrances & bridges with no tolls
Toll Limited Access-has exits,entrances & bridges with tolls
Principal Highway-the main road between towns (2 lane)
Other Through Highway-A Secondary 2 lane road
Other Multi Lane Highway- It could be a four lane road with or without a median without bridges, exits & entrances..more likely with intersections.

Try this one too. One of the other links hit the answer to your question a bit more accurately, but I always found it interesting that no one seemed to learn this in their driver's education class...you can determine where you are and where you're going by the number of the road you're on. For example, I-95 is a North-South Interstate that travels a long distance...in this case, Canada to Miami.
