Valerian Root is a herb that helps with anxiety, restlessness, and to induce sleep. Take 1-2 1 hour before going to sleep. Not to be taken for more than 1 week. If you still have problems after wards get your doctors advice.

I have a Diploma in herbal Medicine. Red Valerian is taken to reduce anxiety, not to induce sleep. If it is sleep you are seeking, then you need to combine the valerian with Hops.
The combination of the two will induce sleep on a gradual basis, as their effect is accumulative.
so start small and work your way up, but don't over do it. I don't recommend self medication with Herbal Medicine, it is best to go see a qualified Herbalist such as myself. I can't recommend any actual dosage, without taking a detailed history from you.

2 is fine...IMPORTANT...DO NOT take Valerian if you are already taking Benzodiazapine. They counteract each other, that is they cancel each other out. Chammomile is a better choice for sleep if you are taking anything else at all...no interactions. I am at windstarhealing.com if you have any questions.

It depends on the person. It doesn't work for everyone. It actually can be a stimulant for some people!

What does the box say? I've never taken the pills, just used the tea. I can tell you that it works!
