Well I'm 16, and I have a bit of mustache, and I wanna shave it, but if I shave it will grow thicker, and what if I don't like how I look without it? Should I shave?

If you shave it it will not get thicker. That is an old wives tale. I think at 16 shaving it is a good idea. If you do not like the clean shaven look then you can grow it again. It is true that stubble appears thicker after you shave it. That is an optical illusion. When stubble grows it comes out blunted. So it looks thicker. You might want to talk to your Mom & Dad (seperatly is best) about what they think. Remember your Dad or an older guy (I don't mean a few months, I mean years older, as in born in a different decade than you) has expierenced the same developmental issues. First (because I've seen one of the other answer) DO NOT WAX IT.

If you want to shave it go ahead it's just facial hair. You just will need to shave pretty much every day to keep the area clean.

If you don't like how you look without the mustache then just stop shaving and it will come back in a reasonably short amount of time. (something longer than 3 weeks).

But only shave if you want to. But you won't be hurting anything if you do, it will grow back.

If you want to shave it then shave it. I'm sure you will still look great. It will grow back thicker but It won't be much more right away. At lest I don't think it will. Either way I love a mustache on a guy, but the decision is up to you.

Your hair does not grow back thicker when you shave it. That is a myth. The reason people think this is because when you shave, you are creating a blunt edge. When your hair grows naturally, it's tapered at the end. Think of it like the hair on your head - if you grow it out for a long time the ends are all ragged and your hair looks thin or scraggly. When you get a hair cut, it makes the ends blunt so your hair looks fuller, when really it's the same thickness it always was.

My advice, shave it.

The last thing you should be worried about is the hair growing in thicker. I'm 31 and have shaved thousands of times...as you will too. My hair grows quickly and I've never noticed any perceivable difference in thickness. Go ahead and experiment with different looks: mustache, beard, goatee, etc. It's nice to have variety.

As a man I suggest that you do, if you dont like the way it looks shave it. So what if it grows thicker, you're gonna have to shave sometime in your life. If you're concern about growing thicker, it might or it may not everyone is different. I had facial hair early in my teens so I know what you're going thru.

Shave it. You're too young for a moustache and it might look silly. When you shave it, you'll look really young at first, but remember that as you get older you'll be able to play with your appearence more because of it growing in thicker!
**I prefer a shaved man and I know a lot of women who feel the same!

Take the advice of one who went through this humility. A 16 year old's mustache never looks as cool as you think it does. Shave it.

i say shave it because it will grow back, and its the summer so if you dont like it, you will know not to do it again, especially during the school year. plus, i sometimes think mustaches look funny on teenage guys when its not like a real mustache mustache. i dont know if that made any sense, sorry :)

If you want to shave it, shave it!! Men never keep the same "look" there whole lives anyways...some weeks with mustache and/or beard, some without!!! Being a female myself, I prefer men who keep it clean because otherwise, it scratches and hurts me when I kiss them!!!
