Yes - And there's also an anti-racism sentiment, anti-wife beating sentiment, and anti-theivery sentiment.

To answer this is to play footsie with anachronism.
But if people are against communism in the sense that they are against, say, riding in horse-drawn buggies, then yes - for communism is an outmoded system.
I guess my example wasn't very good - communism is not only outmoded, but is has also been discredited. The horse and buggy actually WORKED... we just found other things that worked better and more efficiently (cars, namely).
I would say there would definitely be an anti-communist sentiment among younger folks - you know how kids are, always rebelling against their elders. Most of their teachers and professors wet themselves over communism and socialism. So it isn't surprising that the young today will have none of it.
If today's educators would attract young people to communism today, I suggest they begin espousing the virtues of capitalism, and start venerating Ronald Reagan - that way the kids will rebel against the old fogeys and turn commie in a heartbeat. That probably won't happen, though - happily.

i think most americans under 18 wouldn't even be able to define communism. however, i also feel that there is a latent anti-communist sentiment that pervades american society. so of this sentiment is residual from the cold war, but much more importantly, particularly for those under 18 who weren't around during the cold war, it is a result of the way popular entertainment cast communists as the villains i.e. James Bond.

Ah, convinced, i imagine there might want to easily be a touch anti-Communist sentiment interior the country. there changed into this little aspect reported as the chilly war that lasted about 40 years, and through that element the word "communist" became equivalent to the word "fascist." however Communism in American became a quite adverse time period by using 1900, and "socialism" were given tossed into that type by using 1936. If purely Upton Sinclar had gained the governor's race in California. yet i will quote Lennon (John the Beatle, it fairly is) "in case you go wearing pictures of Chairman Mao, You ain't gonna make it with all and sundry any how."

I too think young people have very little concept of what communism is all about these days but I too do not believe it has a place in our American society..Now a days when a new law is enacted that we disagree with due to it infringing on our rights we refer to it a communistic,so that alone tells me this society is never going to bend to communism and have our rights demolished due to it.

I'm for capitalism but as soon as a "communist" country like cuba becomes a dictatorship-which is what it really is, it destroys the point and purpose of the movement.
I can understand communism or socialism as a theory but unfortunately as soon as it becomes a dictatorship i am completely against it.

I know in this house there is. I actually think people under 18 would be more likely to be commies.
Btw, my husband and I just love your rendition of "Old Fashioned Girl"!

No they love commie losers. Most likely they don't care. Considering Communism hasn't been a winning issue since 1947.
