The truth is, many people will look past race as long as you don't keep giving them 'stereotypes' and show who you are. The ones that don't....well you don't want to deal with them anyway.
Dr. King's Dream of being judged on the 'content of our character' is universal. I'm a White Male from the Southern US and I want people to know and judge me on who I am, my values, my intelligence, my actions and how I live my life. Unfortunately most people don't. That's just the way folks are, they trust their eyes too much.
I grew up in New Orleans and lived most of 35 years in a Black community as one of few whites around. I know the looks of suspicion and mistrust, but I also know the many friends and neighbors to whom my race did not matter and who are my lifelong friends.
I now live in a city that is 70% Hispanic and the same goes. It's funny how Mexican-Americans think that blond-haired Gringos don't speak Spanish and talk about me right in front of me.
You need to be proud of who you are. Mind, spirit and body. Don't be afraid of what others think, as race is only one of many things people will judge you on or put you down for. If it weren't race, it'd be something else.
You are big enough to overcome all obstacles. Persevere!

I sympathize with you...and no, I have never wished that I weren't what I am...rather I am proud of what I am...my opinion of myself is not based on what others think of me...but what I think of myself and how I can improve on that...
As for people looking at ur skin, I can easily say don't bother (but its really hard)...just remember they are rather superficial or are more swayed by whats on the outside rather than inside...
Also, people have those stereotypes in mind and basically most of them are mere human-beings with all their idiosyncrasies and thoughts...so you can't help it, although I would suggest that the way you conduct urself makes a lot of difference as to what kind of response u get from others.
Hope this helps and good luck!

I am so proud of my heritage (Irish, Scottish, Native American), I could never wish to be another race. But the skin color thing I can relate to. I use to spend hours in the sun or a tanning bed to be dark. As I wanted it I had it and the damage left on my skin. Now I embrace my 'moon' glow, lol.

convinced, it is trouble-free honestly for someone of the alternative race and sex to marry someone of the "hated race" and yet hate the counterpart. party: for a lengthy time period my cousin hated white women yet yet she loved white men. how are you going to marry someone in case you hate a particular aspect about them that delivered them into the international? that categorical aspect being a white female. *Edit to Stars: Hun, my cousin has continually loved the very certainty she had curves and changed into drop useless captivating, she only hated white women because she'd continually go by using ways one white female dealt with someone (often wrongful) and may want to positioned that judgement onto different white females without understanding them. Edit: To Cloe: We hate you too!

Yes because sometimes I think people just judge me and say like oh she is white she has it so easy in life, she is probably racist, etc.. when they have no idea how my life is.
