start it up at least once a week and let it run for a few minutes.

Well the battery is the last thing you need to worry about.
To store a car for that long you need to do other things to it to inshure it will start a year from now
Go to the auto store and get some stabul. Put this in the gas and it will keep the gas from going bad.
Raise the car so the tires are off the ground, Thy will dry rott if left that long.
As other people have said, just remove the neg cable . Every 3 0r 4 months check it. Most of the time if there is no draw on it, it will stay charged that long and besides if it does go down just take it to Auto-Zone and thy will charge it for you for free.

Your looking for a battery tender. It is a low voltage charger that will keep the battery charged w/o overcharging. Its a $20.00 item or so.
In my thinking, Gold Wing has some good ideas if you were storing your car for years, but for twelve months, I think the steps he mentioned are an overkill. It would be great if you can make arraignments to have the car started every couple weeks.

Start the car up and let it idle once in a while. Even if you don't actually drive the car, starting it on a regular basis will keep battery charged.

There are many products out there to accomplish the goal you have in mind. They trickle charge the battery to keep it fully charged, they are smart and turn & off so you don't kill your battery by over charging it.
I use this one on my 300 over winter when it sits for 4 months.

There is an adapter you can plug your battery in while you are away to keep it charged while it is still in the car, That's what I do with my car at my vacation home....

Unless you are planning to start the car periodically, you will just need to replace the battery in one year - most likely it will be dead by then.

Start your car daily and let it idle for 5-10mins. It helps if you disconnect the battery when not in use.

My roommate removes his battery when he parks his car every winter, and connects it to an external battery charger.
I left my battery in last winter, and my battery was dead in the spring. I'll be removing mine this year.

you need what's called a trickle charger. It keeps the battery at optimal charge.
