Mary Kay is not horrible for your skin. It's one of the best product lines on the market today, which is what makes it the #1 selling brand in the country. If your friend had that problem with the mascara, I'm guessing that it was expired when she used it. As a general rule, mascara is good for about 3 months once it is opened. Whenever purchasing Mary Kay products you need to be sure that 1) the consultant is knowlegeable of all of the products, 2) be sure that what you are buying is appropriate for your skin type - Mary Kay's foundations and skin care products come in different formulas to accomodate various skin types. If you do not use the right products, it is possible to have an allergic reaction or other adverse affect. 3) If you have extremely sensitive skin, ask the consultant to give you a list of the ingredients for each of the products and take it to a dermatologist to see if they can work for you.

Not with the people I know, in fact, my aunt's skin breaks out if she uses anything BUT Mary Kay. Your friend however may have had an allergic reaction. She should contact a dermatologist.

It's very mediocre. You can find better things at the drugstore. You will have a lot of people on here tell you it's great because a lot of people on here sell it!
I doubt a mascara is responsible for her losing large clumps of eyelashes, more likely she was not washing it off or curling her lashes after applying mascara or something like that.

Been using their mascara for years with no problem. Also been told by my hairdresser that my skin looked better once I started using Mary Kay stuff.

maybe on extra sensitive skin, but ive used it and it seemed to be the same as any other make up.
lots of make-ups contain the same ingredients...so think about that.
