The song is about real love. One line says "you'll forget me in time" but according to the video she also loved him and she showed up at the funeral. This is my all time favorite songs because its about something that is so real. You cant find love like that anymore. George Jones also put off singing the song for 5 years because he thought that because it was so depressing and filled with hurt that noone would like it.

He died. Even though they broke up he always loved her. Will he stopped loving her because he is no longer living. The song starts "He said I'll love till I die" and that was the case. They laid a wrealth, carried him away (casket).

She left him and he said he would always love her. She said he would get over her. He did not until the day he died. She did come to the funeral, though. I don't see where someone thinks he drank himself to death though. Sad song.
