Both websites and books are very good for point of reference guides. As an airbrush artist of over 30 years, I can tell you that using books , or other guideline resources are a good way to gain a basic knowledge of art techniques and theories. The ONLY way however to become more adept at the form of artistic venture you want to pursue is by practice. Repetition and more repetition. Eventually it will come together for you and you will be amazed at what you can create with a little inventive thinking and good techniques. Best of luck to you. I wish you well

Having read things written by actual graphic artists I can say that the first poster is incorrect. For example, one graphic artist said that when he went to a graphic design school he was very intimidated because some of the other students were already so talented and he could barely draw. He said however that during the course of the school the lower students increased more rapidly so that by the time they graduated the difference was small.
Getting some drawing, painting, or sketching books is a good idea. Practice will only help. You can take classes if they are available or buy videos as well. After High School you can go to a graphic arts school. The primary skill that you will need will be the ability to visualize what a space will look like after changes are made. This skill will increase with practice. The sketch or computer model that is made is just to help the client visualize what you see.

get into the art class or art club at your high school, if they have one available. You can't imagine how much that helped me. If your high school doesn't have an art program, try to find a class or private lessons from an artist in your area. The best way to do this is to go to your local art supply store and inquire there. A lot of art supply stores will provide weekly classes as well.
The rest? Just practice. Don't worry about what the drawings look like at first. concentrate on getting the lines right, don't even pay attention to the object. This is the best way to get your mind focused on drawing the lines of the object rather than the object itself. start with something easy and draw it over and over until you don't even really think about what you are drawing anymore. concentrate on the spaces and the lines. you'll get there! Good luck!

the first poster is WRONG!!!
anyone can learn to draw. The reason that some can't is because they are not willing to put the effort into practicing the craft.
a drawing class will help alot, but it will do nothing if you don't work hard at it and practice, practice, practice.
when you look at your drawings, be sure to pick out what is good about it and what is bad about it. continue to do the good things and work hard to improve on the not so good points.
carry a sketch book. when you see something you like, or get an idea, draw it.
don't get discouraged. just keep drawing.

Ok, hmmm, well, learning to draw is really all about " Drawing What You See " and " Practicing " I know it sounds hard and it is at first, i had to do the same thing, i still do but i can give myself credit, i can draw, my area is people and objects, such as flowers, chairs, things of that nature, an interior designer has to be very observant of details, datails are really what counts there, well, details and originality, well, i hope i could help a little, i wish you the best of luck

You can learn to draw. Practice and determination is what you need.First get a sketch book, and some drawing pencils.Keep it with you alway's.Then practice drawing what you see.Go outside, find an object,be it a rock,or a blade of grass.
What I'm basically saying is that in order to draw, you have to learn to see.Take your sketch book with you every where.Have friends pose for you, etc.Draw soda bottles, etc.
It doesn't matter how your drawing looks, your learning, and don't strive for perfection. There isn't any in art.
Have Fun.

There are hundreds of books available to learn to draw from but I emphatically advise you to seek out a human-taught art class to get started with.
I learned the basics from books but when I took my first real class, I was able to actually see and experience what the books were talking about.
Any money you pay for a class will be well worth it.

Drawing is really not something you LEARN. You either can or you can't. You can take classes to learn to improve your technique and you can get books on the subject, too. However, most fashion art and other art is done on computer today and most of those people have a flair for drawing that was inborn.

if you want to learn how to draw, take it from me
anyone can learn how to draw, it depends on how determined you are. You can take classes, but really drawing is a talent
dont take advice from drawing books or by tracing pictures and such, that is not the way to go.
you need to learn from experience thats why you take classes.
from the things you learn, dont try to copy other stuff line by line. Drawing is really your interpretation and your unique sense of vision. Dont listen to the answers they provided from you.
but if you want to be an interior designer, there are special things you need to learn besides drawing. Got it??
RunescapeMike2 is wrong, dont listen to him, and dont listen to the first poster as well
