I have a family member who was born blind. I asked her what she dreams about, and she said that when she has dreams, they are dark, like black, which is all that she really sees, except for the occasional light sensation, kinda like what you get when you get really dizzy, or get hit in the head. She hears sounds, and sees what she imagines things look like, based on how they feel. Like if she touches someones face, she can kinda see what her fingers have felt. I hope that makes sense. Same applies to objects like a spoon or whatever it may be that she dreams about. But it doesnt have color, just a shape accented by that light sensation that I mentioned before. And her dreams have a lot of emotions in them, also. So basically, she dreams what she can feel, whether it be emotional or physical, not what she sees. I recommend that if you meet or know a blind person, to ask them yourself, because the way they describe it is absolutly amazing, and everyone should hear this with their own two ears.

I read that blind people that have been blind all of their lives do not see things like normal people in their dreams. Instead their dreams consist of sounds, smell, and physical sensations. However, people who could once see and later became blind do have dreams where they see things.

re: common sense. Answerers shouldn't be rude to the questioners here.
this is not a poor question...
if they have been blind since birth how would they see the same in their dreams as a sighted person would?
perhaps someone who knows a person blind since birth could research this and answer.

Most likely of things they have heard and recognized (people, birds, sirens of trucks, waterfalls, etc), or of things they have day dreamed up before. Remember alot of blind people didn't start out blind.

Blind people often have their other senses slightly enhanced to compensate (e.g., they can hear sharper, they're more sensitive to touch), so it's likely their dreams would contain some agglomeration of their own experiences. It would not be something they see, but rather something they feel, taste, smell, and touch excessively.
