I think "daughter" would be the choice, for many reasons... not just the fact that children are "our future."

Being a parent instills certain instincts... one being the urge to self-sacrifice for the kids.

Both parents (husband and wife) as well as the grandmother would give their own lives for their children/grandchildren; and I think most spouses have an unwritten rule that they would want the other one to save the children first, if something happened.

Could you imagine what guilt, anger, frustration, and shame a mother or grandmother would feel if someone saved her instead of her daughter/granddaughter?

The mothering instinct is so strong and pervasive and overwhelming that the (grand)mother would have rather died than having survived a traumatic event at the expense of her (grand)daughter.

My theory: we do not get to settle on after we die (except we commit suicide, and almost all of society would not experience it is okay). even as i replaced right into a volunteer @ a nursing abode I said a ninety 5 y/o lady crying in her room. I went in and requested her why. She spoke back that she replaced into drained of residing and had to pass abode. Her toddlers were all useless, her grandchildren under no circumstances visited her. Then she requested me why God does no longer take her abode. I had no answer. in my opinion i do not see no longer lack of life contained in the airplane crash as having been shown mercy. existence in this international isn't ordinary. What if i replaced into alive yet sustained an damage that can effect me for something else of my days? i do not call that merciful. I evaluate that something I easily might want to face as a lesson of a few form. As for saving an atheist: it ought to correctly be this atheist nevertheless has something to study from existence, purely as a theist. one ingredient i have discovered in existence is that the "why" questions concerning existence and human beings infrequently have truly definitive solutions. frequently it is extra attainable to settle for what's than to ask why.
