Because Bush played "Follow the Leader" one too many times when he was a kid and now he has a chance to go global with it?

Because if the US Gov wasn't the leader, The world would be chaos. No matter how hard we try to work with the world community, some leaders just are evil and don't want to work together. That leaves US no options but to control. Its like a teen who doesn't listen to his mothers orders. What else can the mother do but control to prevent chaos from occurring. Similarly, If US left countries like N Korea, MIddle Eastern Countries, and African countries alone, NKOREA would nuke the world, Middle East would be total chaos, and Africans will continue to die by the millions of AIDS and such. So now you tell me. Would you ratehr have the world it is rightn ow with america helping countries and controlling where control is needed, or would you rather have countries have nukes pointed towards us, or at any other nation. (unless you are okay with every other ocuntry being nuked cept America, which is quite disturbing)

One day I was talking with my 80 year old mother. I said: "Why can't the U.S. stay out of other countries and let them deal with their own government strategies & problems?" Her response: "Because America isn't trying to become the world's dictatorship and rule with terrorism."

Her answer made me think. She had a valid point of view albeit was not a means to the end. The U.S. wants everybody to play fair and give individuals in all facets of governmental regimes those same fair plays.

It may not seem like our government is ALL THAT when it comes to it's agendas and global interactions. But it is recognized as the "super power" and the world mediator of equality and set standards.

Trust me if you were in the shoes of the President, Condoleeza Rice, our Senators, congress people etc. you would be hard-pressed for quick answers and major decision making. It's not as easy as it looks. The U.S. is dealing with close-minded, terrorists, dictators, miitia-ran governments, poverty-stricken, slave trading, religious fanatics & much much more!

It is not easy and it can't be done to please EVERYBODY. We have to take the good with the bad and work it out as best we can.

Think this: Try being married and having a family (two children). You're needed at the local church for a community meeting. You've been selected to represent your community in civil affairs for the next two years; at conferences held all around the U.S.

You have to be gone three weeks out of every month. The week you're at home the phone rings incessantly for you about upcoming scheduled events. Your children are constantly reminding you of the promises you made about spending time with them. Let's not even get started on your spouse's nagging.

Now...take that and multiply it by 10,000 times and you'll have a day (or two years) in the life of a dedicated, honest committed individual in our political mainstream. It's not easy. How much time do you put into actually doing something for your community? Your family? Ummmmm...

Peace Out.

We didn't ask to get attacked on September 11, 2001. We were minding our own business (and Israel's to a degree) and then were forced to defend ourselves. The truth is someone who has courage has to stand up and lead. If no one else is willing to fight the war against Islamo-fascism, then why not the U.S.? Just like when Hitler was rising in power, someone had to decide to "lead" or "fight" against his regime. Just because you lead the free world, doesn't mean you don't work "with" the world. The two aren't mutually exclusive. But when the rubber hits the road and appeasement emboldens dictators and terrorists, someone has to lead the fight to defend basic human liberties. One other thing I'd say, since the U.S. is the most powerful and prosperous nation in the world, we feel a responsibility to share the freedoms we enjoy. It seems a little selfish to just let others suffer when we have the means and incentive to help them live in freedom.

The US has tried working "with" the world community and they have ignored us. Now the US is taking matters into its own hands. What is wrong with that?

The issue here is that if the US DOESN'T step up, the "world community" moans and complains that the lone superpower isn't doing its part. If the US does step up, the the world complains that we're overstepping our bounds. As far as I'm concerned, if you don't want the US telling you how to "live your life" then live it with morality and honesty rather than stealing, murdering, and oppressing. Pretty simple.

Because of greed and corruption, They want it all.Thomas Jefferson said, "The will of the people is the only legitimate foundation of any government." But our present Congress has corruption of unknown proportions. Our president has continued the expansion of the power of the executive branch far beyond the expectations of the founding fathers.
However, those founders were wise enough to include in Article V of the Constitution a clause that allows us to circumvent the unbridled greed and dishonesty of Congress and the arrogance of the executive branch of government. See www.ament-constitution.org for more information.

RonaldG thinks if the U.S. didn't take the lead the world would be in chaos! It seems to me that the world IS in chaos, thanks to the U.S.A.'s constant interference.
Schoolyard bullies are despised. So is the new 'evil empire' - the United States of America and its 'leader' - Dick Cheney (remember, Cheney's bad heart puts Bush just a heartbeat away from the Presidency!).
Bush played too may games of 'cowboys and Indians' when he was a spoiled rich kid who never grew up. Now he believes any conflict can be resolved if you have enough guns and ammo.
You're right; if the U.S. would work WITH the world community instead of trying to tell everyone else how to live their lives, the world would be a much more peaceful place.

Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld are 'macho' warriors who want to "go to war" so their rich friends can get richer and richer.

PREDICTION; There will be NO TROOP WITHDRAWALS from Iraq until Cheney has a rock-solid, iron-clad arrangement in place to get all of that OIL swimming underneath Iraq's sands (and, of course, he'll get the full cooperation of the new Iraqi government which he helped install).

PREDICTION: The U.S. will settle its defferences with North Korea via diplomatic measures because North Korea has no OIL.

PREDICTION: Bush will illegally and unconstitutionally invade Iran as soon as he can figure out a plausible reason for doing so that gullible Americans will "buy" (he knows that 'weapons of mass destruction' won't work).

PREDICTION: Prior to the elections in 2008, Bush will invent another 'terrorist attack' on U.S. soil, allowing him to declare martial law so that he can remain in power, "in the interests of national security".

PREDICTION: Shortly after Bush leaves office, this country will suffer a severe economic depression, as a result of the wild spending and reckless economic policies of the Bush administration. He's already left American taxpayers TRILLIONS of dollars in debt; but our great-great-grandchildren will be paying off the debt Bush incurred.

PREDICTION: Since China is our biggest creditor, it's only a matter of time until China revokes our credit limit. Once our national credit card is 'maxxed out', we won't have any money with which to fund a military. China will simply come in and take our property, assets, money, natural resources, real estate, oil, coal, mineral ore, timberland, factories, and even our women if there's a demand for an international sex slave trade. WalMart will be nationalized as a Chinese company. Our great-great-great grandchildren will be in an 85% tax bracket where they'll have to earn $100,000 a year and learn to live on $15,000.00.
But not to worry, we'll all be dead and gone. So let's continue filling up out $60,000 SUVs with $4.00-a-gallon fuel; maxxing out our credit cards; worrying about Britney Spears' love life; and finding a professional landscaper for our $300,000 house. Let our descendants worry about how to deal with the problems in their future. Let that cute littel kid that just turned two grow into adulthood, living is squalor and poverty just because Bush wanted to be a 'macho' man and make America a 'leader' of the free world with guns and ammo instead of negotiation and diplomacy. -RKO-

We work those who want to be worked with. It isn't a matter of the US pushing, it is also some in the world community who look to us for leadership and protection.

The days of isolationism ended after WW II. We came out of that one as the big dog on the block. Sure, there was the Soviet Union, but look what happened to them.

Because groups like NATO and UN won't do diddly-sqat.

If the U.S. didn't take the lead, the world would be in chaos.

Because the world community hasn't earned parity with the US. They are NOT our equals. To treat them as anything but our inferiors is to disrespect ourselves. F'em.
