hey, I run track and was a great runner in the 200 meters, but had an accident and fractured my ankle. I want to know if I would be able to run the same again as fast as I used to run before. How long will it take for me to run that fast again? Can someone who has a similar situation or who went through this please response. Thank You.

Without knowing how severe the injury was or if you damaged any other tissues, ligaments, joints, etc., it's hard to say. But a simple break shouldn't stop you from regaining your sprinting ability.

Whatever you do, be sure to give the injury the proper time to heal and then get some rehab therapy so you can regain range of motion and strength. Don't over do or you could end up permanently damaging your ankle. Depending on the severity of the injury, it could take 6 months or more to get back to where you were.

I broke my leg in 2 places, the tibia, and the bone stuck out.
I had lots of "hardware" and it was all taken out after a year.
I had to have 4 months of PT. I was riding my bike 6 months after the accident!! Except for bearable pain in the knee, I can walk, run and ride my bike like I never broke anything. You may need PT and take it easy, ask your doctor when you can start exercising. In 6-8 months, I am sure you will be good as new.

I broke the top of my foot last Oct, and I am a every day jogger. I noticed it just gets sore a lot faster, but it hasn't slowed me down at all. Good luck to a fast recuperation!
