I too have suffered for years with migraines. Unfortunately I do not believe that any one medicine is correct for everyone! However, most of the answers that you have gotten all can help. First, have you been diagnosed with migraines from a neurosurgeon? That would be your first step! Then sometimes many different medicines have to be tried before you find the correct one for you! I have tried Imatrex, Cafergot, Ibuprophen, Vicodin, Tylenol #3, Extra Strength Tyelenol, Advil and right on down the line. The thing that works the best for my migraines is Caffiene! I also use moist heat or ice. A Diet Pepsi over ice helps, along with a Tylenol#3. This medication is highly addictive though and should only be used if prescribed by a physician. Plus, only used just when you are having a migraine. Good luck and I hope that you find your best answer for you!! I tried for years and years and now seem to be almost migraine free. So there is hope!!

It depends on the severity of the pain. True migraines won't respond to anything over the counter. Forget Advil for migraine. That's a big load of B.S.
"Maxalt" is very good. The Dr. can prescribe them either in tablet or wafer form. The wafer form doesn't require water, and melts very quickly in the mouth, with just a flat mint taste. It's good for people who are working where there isn't easy access to water, or if a migraine strikes without warning.

Ibuprofen works for me but only if I take it at the very start of a migraine. If I wait too long then nothing helps except sleep and time.
