i completely agree, i worked as makeup artist for several years, and when i worked with black women, their skin was always amazingly flawless, no matter what the age. the only thing i can think of that kind of makes sense is the sun. maybe the sun doesnt have as many negative effects on darker skin for some reason. i dont know why though!

The answer is very simple. Your skin colour protects you from the harmful rays 20 times more than the fair ones. Your skin is absolutely affected and they have a longer life. However this is just one of the reason, not the only reason. Regular care of the skin and drinking lots of water is also good. Your family women I believe have the best habits, so they have less cell destruction.

Well they have good genes. My family is like that as well and I am not black. All races and nationalities can age well, not just blacks. Just like some women I know look alot older than their age, all different races. It has alot to do with genes, then it also depends on if you light the candle from both ends.

Their skin tone is derived from a greater amount of melanin, which is produced to protect skin from the sun. The lighter the skin, the more sunscreen you should use. I´m so jealous, because they always have such beautiful skin.

Black women have more melanin in their skin, keeping those wrinkles away. The lighter you are the more wrinkles you will see.
I do agree alot of black women who are in their fifties look like they are in their thirties. They are just beautiful.

It's Melanin related. Melanin provides natural protection from UV. So black women don't get sun damage like white/Hispanic/Asian women can (Asian women generally avoid the sun).

never noticed that.... i think how you age is genetic, so your family has good genes for that, but not all blacks are like that, i have seen lots that haven't aged well at all.
my g-ma is 81 and has no gray hair, works everyday, and no one would guess she is that old... genetic.... because she hasn't had an easy life, or tried to take extra special care of herself.

i know exactly why. because most black people have oily skin, the oilier the skin the less wrinkles you get, plus with them being so dark that helps hide the wrinkles.
