If you aren't really sick, don't call in. If you are sick and call off, try to get a doctor's note since you are new to the job. Calling off after only a month or so can make it seem like you are not dependable and can affect your future with the company.

I agree...I have never called in sick without obtaining a doctor's note. If I don't think I am sick enough to go to the doctor, then I am not sick enough to call off. I can't afford to call off much anyway but at least that way I can prove that I wasn't playing hooky from work.

Don't call in sick unless you really are. Also, I have gone to a job when I was sick and let them send me home. I think it looks better and shows you tried It depends on how sick you are because you don't want to get your fellow employees sick.

Yes, You should never do it unless you are seriously sick (high fever, vomiting, etc) within the first (90) days.

If you are really sick and contagious, you should though. Depends on your boss. I absolutely hate it when obviously sick people show up for work (to infect the rest of us!).

However, I do appreciate the dedication that made them show up and try!

Yes. It looks really bad if you were to call in sick now

Not unless you're truly too ill , or contagious. If you are honest when requesting time off for reasons other than illness, your employer might consider it. He definitely won't like being lied to!

My motto is "if you're not in the hospital, you can go to work."

If you do call in, you better be prepared to provide your boss with a doctor's excuse. Even if they don't request it, you should have it.

I would say be safe, go to work, and them send you home. You certainly don't want to jeopardize your position. Get well soon!
