alot of people think bill gates is the richest. I think its a middle eastern amir, or a king. i know the emirate ruler has over 50 billion dollars.

Bill Gates is the richest man on earth by his business fortune.
But Sultan of Brunei is still considered the richest in term of being a king who owes the whole country that produce oil.
He is also the Prime Minister and holding the Finance and Defend Minister posts too. Guess nobody is close to that except Singapore's The Lee Dynasty.

Samuel C. - Oprah is a woman and not a man. And the question to your answer is what part is rich? Bill Gates, or Donald Trump might be the richest, all depends on what you look at? Their company might make $$$ every year but spend $$$ every year. If Bill's company Microsoft is worth $$$ but Bill is only make $$$ for himself. Everyone that owns stock in the business can say that they are the richest person cause he or she has a part in the company, but doesn't really make them richy rich.
