If you are looking for something shiny, Anarchy Online is currently free to download and has no subscription fee. It is a 3d massively multiplayer online game set in a futuristic setting. You can get it at www.anarchyonline.com
Another of my favorites isn't so shiny, but is very indepth. It is free, but you can purchase fantastic items and extensions at a low price if you like. The players are all very nice and helpful. It is called Lands of Hope and can be found at www.forlornonline.com
If you like yelling at people in leet speak and flaunting your ego all over the place, RPG World Online is your spot. The graphics are old NES-style, but the game engine is fantastic, and the players are always trying to prove who is the toughest.
If you're looking for time killers at work or school, www.addictinggames.com has a lot of options. There are also some fun timewasters at www.homestarrunner.com, www.weebls-stuff.com, and loads of webcomics to eat up time can be found at topwebcomics.com.

Depends on the type of game you like. I like Deltoria. Graphics are not the greatest but they are good enough for a free browser based game.
