The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.

I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.

Associations may be a good avenue to explore. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

Catering Specific:
* How to Start a Home-Based Catering Business, 5th by Denise Vivaldo
* How to Run a Catering Business from Home by Christopher Egerton-Thomas
* Start and Run a Catering Business by George Erdosh

Pennsylvania Specific:
* How to Start a Business in Pennsylvania by Desiree A. Petrus, Mark Warda
* How to Start a Business in Pennsylvania by Entrepreneur Press

There are plenty of free informational resources out there. Check the source box for links to articles.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

Most state will not allow you to cook in your home. However a lot of people still do it. You can rent kitchen time at a local church and some club owners will rent kitchen time to you as long as you use it during the day. This way you won't have to go through the expense of trying to find an old restaurant or something. As that can be very expensive. You can also cook in the clients home as a personal chef preparing meals for a weak for them. I hope some of this helps. Good luck.

Nolo press has a great series of books http://nolo.com/resource.cfm/catID/9FA25870-14F1-4657-9778F19FB41FB93D/111/228/
that are worth their weight in gold when starting a business out on your own. They will help you evaluate a lot of areas of you business and ideas before it gets to the point of costing you serious money. There are even books that will guide you on all of the regulations and step by step to getting the business started officially for your state. I used these when I started my freelance business several years ago and referred back to them as I entered into my current business.
Definitely get a good accountant. The best money to be spent is the kind that will save you money!
Good Luck

i have no longer heard of ISI both. My suggestion is figuring out your strengths and your passions. once you p.c. out them then start up your seek for searching for some thing that parallels your personality. If it is rings then seem for rings, if it a provider that promises inexpensive rates on ordinary purchases then seem for that, if health is significant to you or those on the point of then you seem for some thing in that field. maximum human beings that are not useful in homestead depending agencies have chosen products or amenities that they are no longer keen about or that it would not fit their personality. it is necessary that you check out numerous issues related to agencies you align your self with. Do they take earnings of human beings? Is their numerous turnover in human beings on the problem of the employer? How sturdy is their help? How sturdy is their repayment plan? Are they moral? What differentiates them from some different person? Are the products or amenities as sturdy as they say they're? Do human beings that use the products or amenities have genuine thoughts of the benefits? Is the products or amenities unique? those form of issues must be considered. i have been in contact with numerous different agencies and function been dissatisfied after I've considered the employer for myself. i have those days got here upon 2 agencies that are unique, provide large products and amenities, and function large repayment plans. So keep looking and ask round. in case you fairly favor to stumble on some thing you'll. If i'd be of furher options enable me comprehend.

the state and county are very picky about that. you must meet strict rules about your food prep area and your living area. first get with the dept of heath in your area. they will start you out. then go to the city and see if you need a city license. you will need allot of plumbing done if you are not set up yet. hope this helps
