they wish they were young again

I will be 30 in a few months and I will be the first to admit that I think that many people who are elderly or older are so cruel to you young people is because of the lack of values, morals, upbringing and just plain simple disrespect that you have for anyone who is not your age. Even back when I was growing up there was this great need for 15-18 years olds to be popping out kids, where are the morals in that, not even realizing that you have ruined the rest of your life. Not only that, but, the music today is so deeming and sexually overtured that it is not even understandable how it is allowed to be played on the airwaves.

Take a look in the mirror in 10 years and you will find yourself saying the same thing that I am writing. I remember being 15-25 saying that I wouldn't ever get out of the "now", well, after having a kid and growing up really quickly at 21, I have learned that the younger generation today have a complete lack of maturity and responsibility and are just plain cruel to everyone wit a lack of morals and values.

Elders believe that things should remain the same. Younger people know that what is true is that things change and will always so. This is hard for them because they have become so set in their ways and another combination of the fact that they had to break of respect to their elders, now they want their own respect. Also some of them faught in world wars to make the globe a less complicated landscape in their belief. The problem is the greatest generation probably was just that, but their boomer kids are warts that ruin everything ei. cold war and right now religious strife

Our elder been where we are going and they can fill us in on the lessons they've learned so we won't make the same mistakes they did. Even though a lot of us are hard headed and don't listen anyway. Then we make the mistake they tried to warn us of. After that all we can say was they were right I should have listened. Young people need to stop being hard headed and listen to elders and they will lighten up on you.

We older people just want respect, as do younger folks. If you give it, you get it. Because we are older we expect to be respected first. It is our due.
It would also help if there were signs of self-respect among the young. The way you dress says much, and I have yet to see young men with their pants at the proper height, hat worn properly, or shoes tied. This 'fashion sense' shows us older ones that you just don't care about yourselves. If you don't care then why should we?
In order:Respect yourself, respect the elder, receive respect in return. Very simple.

Alot of young people show no respect to their elders.. Older people have little patience anymore, i guess maybe also they are sad that they have grown old, there families probably don't visit them much, so they are lonely ...so they take it out on others... It may not be right thing to do..but i for one will overlook it and be nice...just because i have respect for my elders..that's the way i was raised..

I think it's because todays younger generation does not have work nearly as hard as the older generation did. Can you imagine living during the Great Depression and then watching the horrors of WW II? These people survived things I don't even want to imagine. They not only survived all of this but when they came home from the war they helped construct a stronger nation without asking what was in it for them. Today's generations have grown selfish and lazy and we should show the utmost respect for these people who made available the things we take for granted today.

sometimes they are just frustrated when they see how we are living our lives because they've been down that road already and know where it leads. Some call it tough love. Or maybe they have their own issues and take it out on us. Either way don't take it personally, and DON'T catergorize all elders in that boat because I know lots of elders that treat young people wonderfully

Because some young people don't show the elderly proper respect. Also understand some really old people have health issues that make them feel sick, in pain, or confused all the time. You'd have a hard time being nice to everyone if you felt so terrible constantly.

There are any number of reasons why elderly people behave in the manner in which they do
A good deal of the time it comes out of the stark reality that they are having to face that the choices and options they have enjoyed for most of their life have began to dwindle down slowly but surely because of their infirmities and physical inabilities ---their vonerabilities and weaknesses are noticably beginning to increase and the influence that they have enjoyed for most of their life is also being to dwindle away---Add all these factors together with the jealousy that can creep into their attitudes toward the younger set for the freedoms that they enjoy and the promises that they have out before them and you have a dangerous mixture capable of producing some very undesireable behavior

Because young people are stupid. And they know it tenfold, because they have been there. Same reason I had college students, HS students and Jr. High Kids. They are all stupid in there own special way. The older I get the longer my hate list gets!
