How do you know it won't go any further?
You should let the other person know right from the start what your intentions are. This doesn't mean he/she won't get hurt, but at least you could sleep at night knowing you didn't lead her/him on. But back to my question: how can you be so sure some feelings won't develop on your end to cause things to go further? Have an open mind, but be honest!

You need to let this person know from Day One, or as soon as possible, exactly how you feel,because I highly doubt they can read your mind.Especially since this person may have higher expectations- such as a serious relationship. But let me ask you something- why are you choosing to sleep with someone you are not committed to in the first place? Sex is risky enough as it is when you ARE with someone you love and care about.Besides the emotional aspects, there are all kinds of STD's out there, including AIDS, plus there's always the possibility of having to deal with an unplanned pregnancy.Condoms and birth control methods are pretty reliable when used correctly , but none of them are one hundred percent effective. So please think about this carefully-sex is a huge responsibility, bigger then most people realize. Is it really worth it in the long run doing it with someone you're not in love with? In my opinion, no.

I think you just answerd your own question here. I think you also know that if you tell this person up front, that you run the risk of the person not sleeping with you, which means you won't get what you want. Good luck!!

I'm hoping this hasn't been going on too long, because if so, you're about to break someones heart. You need to tell this person that you aren't looking for anything serious at this point in your life,but can't stand losing them as a friend.
