You need to see your doctor about this....it could be a few different things.....are you retaining fluid in your lower extremities?Use alot of sodium on your food?Do you have any other medical problems??The smoking doesnt help...age and size plays a factor too..it sounds a bit like CHF but only your doctor can confirm that....or it could be sleep apnea...see your doc he'll figure it out....

do you have a cold????it could be the stuff blockin your nostrils and stuff.......or do you sleep with the cover/blanket over your head...i know it's weird if you dont but i do and once i wrapped it too much and i started breathing really louldy......but i was asleep and i didnt realise it......my mom came and removed the cover and my breathing went back to normal....if you dont hav a cold or you dont sleep with the cover on your head then i suggest that you go and see a doctor.......but if you do have a cold then i think you just drink some medicin and stuff

Could be several things: sleep apnea which can be diagnosed by spending the night in a sleep center.Do you snore loudly?
Could be a fluid retention problem.Patients who have fluid retention will tell you they cannot sleep unless propped on two pillows.Tell your doc.

Get a check-up, and describe this to a doctor. And a notice to your husband: Smoke doesn't discriminate about where it goes.

Good luck!
