Don't go for electric in the beginin. Cos usin electric would require more speed n knowledge about sustain n slide n lotsa s.h.i.t like that. So start off with Acoustic. Once u learn stuff then u can progress to the next level of learnin bar chords. U should proll'y try inevstin lil by lil. cos if u buy a costly guitar it doesn't mean that u'd learn stuff fast n sound like a pro in weeks. Always keep that in mind, Practise makes perfect. Have fun.

First of all, it depends on what style you want to learn.
Electric or acoustic. Yes they are different instruments, and yes you can have different playing styles on them.

If you choose electric, don't go for a brand name as a target. Sure you want to keep a good brand in mind, but you want to go for something that feels good in your hands. Pick a few up. See what the necks feel like in your hands. Go for comfort. You also want to find one that is easy for you to fret the strings. No sense spending 300 dollars on a guitar if you can't press the strings to the neck. Try to keep a specific brand in mind, then try to stay within your budget.

Just don't make any rash decisions. Decide what you're looking for then go for what you can play, what feels good, and a familiar brand.

Start with an Epihone - its made by Gibson (one of the top end lines of guitar). I would go acoustic. You don't want to spend money on amps and effect pedals if you're not going to stick with it.

it really depends on what you want to play, you can learn on anything.....althought some are easier to learn on than others....i started with a cheap acoustic.....i'd recomend choosing the guitar that appeals to you or start with a classical/nylon string because its alot eaiser on your fingers.....a few good brands are: Fender, Gibson, Rouge....there are lots more though good luck

get an acoustic washburn. they are good beginner guitars because they are durable and sound pretty. they last a long time and can handle a beating, and aren't very expensive. i love my washburn and i will never sell it.
