when you log on you should see there picture to say they have logged on or that they are online if they are offline there pictures will be in red! hope that helps!

You need to download the messenger programme from the website. Then, click on the the little people in the bottom right of the screen, and open the programme. Then you will see a green man by the people who are online, and a red one by those that arent.
To add your friends, go to contacts, and 'add contact' and fill out the details. Ask again if you need more specifics.

If you have MS Messenger open and your friend is on your messenger list you should be able to see if they are 'online' as opposed to 'offline', unless they have set their staus to 'Appear Offline', with the new version you could always leave an offline message!!

If your friend has been added to your buddy list, then anytime they come online they will pop up on you messenger buddylist. (Unless they have made themself invisible to you.)
