Actually I'm against slavery only because is anti-progress. Plus it brought crime, disease and much discord to us when it was ended. I think slavery was a big mistake on the part of rich land owners. George Washington even kicked the blacks out of the military during the revolutionary war. Can you believe that Washington was quoted as saying that the fighters "Do not want to use such wretched assistance" I heard this on the History Channel on their Revolutionary War Series. That is part of what the founding fathers were.

"Amendment XIII
"Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
"Section 2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation."

So how would making slavery legal again be good for the people of America? Very curious to read your answer to that.

Not to mention, this statute is being broken every day, by corporations who base their operations out of tiny "protectorate" islands like the Marianas aka Saipan. They lure the impoverished young out of places like China and Singapore, promising them work in America. Instead they are taken to these sweatshops and stranded there, making poverty wages from which food and clothing costs are deducted, trapped in company dorms surrounded by barbed wire, all under the auspices of free trade. Because these islands aren't part of any state, there's no local gov't besides what the company supplies, and they are too far for anybody to insist the Feds get involved. Not to mention Congress long ago exempted them from any worker protection and safety laws.

America the Beautiful, you know. Next time you buy a garment that says "Made in the USA" but doesn't have a union tag, wonder whether it was made in the land of the free or the home of the slaves.

If the Thirteenth Amendment were to be repealed it would have no effect. We would not get slavery back. There are laws in every State outlawing any kind of slavery. Slavery could never be re-instituted.

Whether you like it or not, "the people" include many millions of those who would be enslaved by your idiot suggestion. They are clearly much more American than you are, because liberty, not slavery, has always been the cornerstone of American government.

You must feel pretty inadequate if you'd resort to such barbaric measures in order to give yourself a boost in the world.

How is that good for the people? In this day and age, would all people be subject to slavery? If so, wouldn't we all be owned by people from Asia?

A liberal masquerading as a conservative and saying racist idiotic things.

No, that amendment was and is needed so the Democrats don't go around enslaving people again.
