Use a planner or calendar to write down when your assignments are due for each class, and then work backwards to plan how much time you should spend to prepare. Students are notorious for throwing together last-minute projects, but it's difficult to get good grades if you have a habit of procrastinating. Spend some time each day on your homework, even if it isn't due the next day.

Ask teachers for help when you need it. Find students in your class who are doing well and ask if you can meet during lunch to study for upcoming tests. This is a great way to meet new friends that you might not otherwise get a chance to hang out with, and you'll work harder to learn the material if you know others will be noticing your progress (especially if there is a cute guy in your study group!). Good luck, have fun.
