For idyllic shallow waters protected by a coral reef, white coral sand and the pretence that you are the only person there - a small bay on Union Island in St Vincent and the Grenadines. Past the harbour, restaurant and hotel and round the corner. You don't get hustled like on half the other Caribbean Islands - there's no-one there to hustle you! For snorkeling, sea lions and wildlife try the Galapagos Islands, Darwen was inspired by his voyage there. For style, people watching and the kudos try either Copacabana or Ipanema beaches in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil...not forgetting to return in the evening to watch inspirational football of the beach football schools - talented kids playing barefooted in the sand with proper footballs and more talent than you could find in most premier clubs here!

Sand Key Beach in Florida is nice and not very commercial yet. Panama City Beach Florida has the sugar white sand but is very commercial. Now that I think about it I would have to say, Melbourne Beach in Florida is the best.
