Yes, you can use yahoo mail through a mail program on your computer in addition to the web interface. This means that you can download your mail to your computer and (obviously) you can then later look at your messages offline. See the yahoo help on using external mail tools.

The most common external tool is outlook express, which comes free with windows.

i used to use my sky digital box to check my emails when my computer was broken. It still charges you for the phone call though and I'm not sure if it still works as it was a while ago now.....!
