I love the red wings and with Lidstrom, they always have a chance at the cup, but they are lacking Brendan and Stevie, so it will be tough. I sure hope they win. They should've won with the best record last year. They couldve beat Carolina and Edmonton. (wait, did they lose to edmonton in the playoffs)

YES!! I have been a die hard Red Wings fan my whole life and I say that even without Stevey Y and Shanny they still have a solid team, look at Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidstrom, Chellios, and the rest of their lineup. Chellios will be especially inspired because he's probably will retire after either this year or next year. As for their goalie situation, all they need is a backup, Osgood is just fine, he's championship calliber in fact.

They have a few gaps to fill yet, but they still have the strongest dynasty in the NHL right now, and will be unbeatable. Yzerman had to retire this year. Last year he ket falling on his knee and you could tell he was in pain.

But the Wings sitll have a strong lineup that will likely intimidate the whole league next year, and they will take it all the way. None of the other teams in the NHL stand a chance. WINGS IN 07. YEAH!!

Any team has a chance of winning. Will they do it, that's another question.

No one projected the Oilers as a cup finalist last season and all they had for goalies were Markkanen and Conklin until they traded for Roloson which took him some time to "warm" up.

So anything is possible. Osgood is a proven winner, can he carry the Wings to the cup... remains to be seen.

I expect a trade before the halfway point bringing Aebischer or Biron to Detroit.

anything is possible. no one thought that edmonton would be in the finals last season. they need datsyuk and zetterberg to capitalize on their scoring chances in the playoffs. they need a leader who can carry the team and inspire them to win. shanny wasn't gonna stay anyway if yzerman left so his leaving could open the door to more offense by younger players. the goalie would need to stand on his head and be capable of winning games he has to win in the playoffs. another thing that needs to happen is that the team plays as one unit near the end of the season and not peak too early. would be nice if they won the cup this upcoming season. wait and see if they do.

I think they have a shot, but with Shanny and Stevie gone, that will hurt them a little. They do need a goalie, Chris Osgood not exactly being the answer. If they get an outstanding no.1 goalie, the they have a legitimate shot (Dominik Hasek, possibly)

Yes, some time in the future but probably not soon. They need to retool as those meaningless big point totals are no godo when they flame out in rd. 1 or 2 year after year since 2003.

i like the purple Wings. yet their overall performance over the final 10 video games or so (apart from the Colombus beating) became no longer as much as the factors of Stanley Cup Champions. So probable no longer.

I think they have a chance. I think I would put them at 10:1 odds based on how great a system they have, but until they fill that hole in net and the younger guys start coming around, they may have a few very unpleasant springs.
