Both are great, but I'd have to say Stevie Ray Vaughn -- not only do you feel his music, the music itself can actually cry and laugh....I know that sounds weird, but that's sometimes what I can almost hear....

Jimi hendrix was more inventive in my opinion. But Stevie Ray Vaughn took Jimi's style and went crazy with it. Technically I would say SRV was better. But creatively, definitely would be Jimi

You can't really compare apples to oranges. Hendrix and Stevie Ray had different styles. They're both delicious!

the word incomparable comes to mind here - i would hate to choose - Jimi went where no one had ever been with a guitar and stevie was a culmination of that exploration with superb technical skills.

I think your questioning is flawed. Note that neither artist has released new material in quite some time.

If you mean who was. . .
Hendrix without a doubt.

I think if SRV were alive today, he'd admit that Jimi was a heavy influence, and that nobody could hold a candle to JH.
