i need a pcie x16 slot to get a graphics card to get the good version of windows vista. the only pcie slot i got is x1 .

Do you have a PCI-e slot attach to your PC now?

As far as I know, most PCI-e slots are x16 or 16x. This figure actually stands for transfer speed and not the physical number of slots you need to have. The older AGP slots have a max transfer rate of x8.

So, if you already do have a PCI-e slot in your PC, chances are its x16 or 16x.
