where did all the thunderflies come from?

they are driving me mad, they are on my walls, window sills and ceilings. never used to see them when i lived down south, only now i'm in yorkshire - does anyone else have this problem??

yes, they are thrips and here in East Anglia we are covered with them as soon as combining starts. But if you take a look under a microscope you will see how beautiful they are. The downside is that they can creep in anywhere even behind glass in pictures. You get used to people scratching but it only lasts for a week or two.

when a boy thunderfly and a girl thunderfly love each other very much, and
they decide that it is a good time to have a family, they have a special hug..
and part of the boy thunderfly goes inside the girl thunderfly. and then later
a baby is born.

Just looked it up. They are thrips - i'm none the wiser. Apparently they swarm in still thundery weather.
