make sure you have your master/slave settings correct. sounds like a master/salve issue.

i dont think it is master slave problem. if that is the problem computer shows "system holted." message. and will sease booting
i think your nex hard disk is in cable selection mode. to use cable selection mode u must have a cable having ash and black connectors. u must be having all black connectors in your cable
check your old one. there must be a lable on the top side of HDD or engravement near the jumpers near to the port that cabel is connecting saying your HDDs setting (Slave/Master/ Cable selection). most probably it must be in slave position. change your new HDDs setting (new ones come with Cable selection mode)to the same position. and fix it.
No experiance with ipods

put on your homestead windows CD, or Linux, or Mac CD, even with the certainty that OS you've, on the starting up of the your boot up. I recommend to position in the CD and then restart, it is going to take to a wizard. keep on with the training, make confident you position format hardchronic, this way each and every thing will be deleted and then the CD will installation your OS lower back, like it changed into once you purchased it. in case you want, backup your information, like records and different stuff, because once you format your hardchronic no longer some thing will be left.

You might not have the correct driver to do that. Installing new hardware is more that just plugging it in. The software, if not all or correctly installed, keeps it from working.
