It is still a wonderful country, despite the poor grade of pablum offered as candidates for public office. If not for the USA, the Swastika and Rising Sun flags might be flying over the world.
The world was a mess long before Bush 2, long before. Europe rides the fence, as they did before WW2, afraid of offending, afraid of saying and doing what they think.... that, coupled with N Korea, the mid east, and RED china, contribute to the mess in a major way. Bush is only a pimple in the mess.... much like Clinton, except Bush tries to fix the problems instead of paying lip service and otherwise ignoring them.
Muslim Islamo-facist terrorism has been "ALLOWED" by the world, including the USA. If Nassar, when he was in power in Egypt, had put an end to the Muslim Brotherhood (the parent of today's Islamo-facists), Islamo-facists would not be the problem they are nowadays.
The "mess" has always been created and allowed to fester by countries that refuse to act until an issue directly affects their country. The "mess" has to be dealt with now or the mess will be everywhere.

It's quite a perplexing question. I'm guessing you'll get varied responses depending on the political views of whom is answering. Personally, I think it's disheartening to live in America right now. Especially from a parental point of view. Bush has made a mess of our education system with his "No child left behind" program (Ask any teacher.), overstepped his authority, and is making war for oil. I think any intelligent person can see that it's hard to have faith in a leader when you're supposed to be living in the greatest nation in the world, yet every other nation hates you for his decisions, and therefore Americans as well. I love this country, but I hate what it's become and am ashamed of it. In my lifetime, I'm sure I'll be applying for expatriot status on principal alone. I think our forefathers are rolling in their graves seeing what the government has done to this great nation, our constitutional rights, and the poor and homeless. Besides, we didn't even elect him, he didn't win the vote, remember? He's not OUR president.

Wow! Some give Bush far too much credit! Do you really think he single handedly has made a mess of the world. If so, you need to be smart enough to back a statement up like that with a lot of facts, statistics, proven data, etc. otherwise, it's just another bogus, desperate attempt of a monger!
I can see how you would feel this way as he single handedly created 9/11, terrorists, Al Qaeda, natural disasters, global warming, etc. He Is Quite Amazing & Powerful in that way!!!! Get a clue!!

Oh wow, so now President Bush is responsible for the WORLD! As usual, the person that asks this question, and many, many others take no personal responsibility for anything. They have to have a scapegoat because they are too ignorant and too lazy to find out the REAL facts.
I don't know what country you are in, but do us all a favor and STAY there - more than likely, you are living off of U.S. humanitarian aid.

How is it that so many people like the person who asked this question are blind to how the world really works and that our government isn't the cause of radical Islam? Most likely a bleeding heart liberal democrat who need an education in reality. Stop whining about what you don't like about the government and DO SOMETHING. Start by voting (not that it will make much difference as the Republicans will win again because America has moral values that Democrats don't have).

You're paradigm is reversed. You are looking at the world from the wrong side of the looking glass.
America spends a lot of time and money cleaning up the messes produced by other nations and I'm getting a bit tired of being told that we are evil and the cause of all that's wrong in the world!
Our men and women have shed precious blood to provide liberty to other peoples as opposed to other nations who have gone to war to take land and oppress others!
We continuously provide financial and medical support to nations that are in desparate need! We feed the world...even when they can't afford to pay us! We care more for the other citizens of this globe than ANY OTHER nation!
HOW DARE you sit in your comfortable chair, take your liberties for granted and speak ill of the men and women who have died so that you could do so! To many lives have been given and too much blood has been shed for you to be so quick to speak ill of so fine a nation!

Amen & Selah AztecGoddess!!
Even though the expletives you used were a lot stronger than mine; they exemplify my reality about this issue as well.
This country's state of affairs has long been in dispute about how things are handled; long before Bush came into the picture.
Let's go down memory lane: Was Bush in Presidential office when...
1) Boston Tea Party
2) Bay of Pigs
3) Watts Riots
4) March on Selma, Alabama
5) Count down (444 days) to release American hostages
6) Viet Nam war
7) Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini's & The Shah's terror reign
8) The Civil War
etc. etc. etc. You see he stepped into something that he has to use his best judgments, staff, population, family etc. in order to quantify and maintain the U.S.'s policies and democratic processes with liberty and justice for all.
Peace Out.

I know how you feel. I feel bush intentions where bad and his reactions and judgment was just plain horrible. I have no idea why people voted for him a second time. Can’t believe he is still in office after he messed up so many times. Our great president just happens to put our great surplus into a big debt and now we are at war. It’s going to take several presidents to clean up his mess. The whole world seems to be pissed off at us because of our president.
