It may for some people, but for most it doesn't. Since I started using it a couple years ago, my skin has only gotten worse.

NO! Pro-activ is complete crap and it smells strongly of chemicals. The key to overcoming oily skin and acne is varying your routine. If you don't switch it up, your skin gets used to what you're using and builds up a defense.
Switch between salicylic acid treatments and benzoyl peroxide treatments every couple of days.
Also, the more you wash your skin, the more oil your skin produces to compensate for the resulting dryness, so make sure to use a light moisturizer for oily skin at night (neutrogena makes some good ones) and don't wash your face more than twice a day.
Also, make sure to use a good exfoliant because your dead skin cells will trap the oil in your pores, resulting in lots of pimples. Neutrogena deep clean exfoliant is a really good one. Also Clean and Clear Blackhead Clearing Scrub.
Hope this helps!

It didn't work for me. It irritated my skin and made it red and itchy.
I use the Miracle Set (combination to oily) by Mary Kay. The set will give you younger looking skin, fewer lines, improved firmness, and even skin tone. It's very gentle and will not irritate your face. http://www.marykay.com/adina_k/skincare/antiaging/miracleset_combinationtooily/default.aspx
Be sure to finish your daily skin care routine with a foundation to protect against the elements, and to help your skin look smooth and blemish-free. You can also use a concealer underneath your foundation. Mary Kay's foundations come in 20 different shades and provide stay-true, stay-put color, and controls excess oil for up to eight hours! http://www.marykay.com/adina_k/color/foundations/mediumcoveragefoundation/default.aspx
You can also throw in the Blemish Control Toner 3, which is an acne medication that leaves your skin free of excess oil. http://www.marykay.com/adina_k/skincare/classicbasicskincare/10106500/10106500/default.aspx
The last thing is the Acne Treatment Gel. It will dry and clear blemishes, and allows skin to heal without irritation.

Just be sure to always properly moisturize, even while breaking out. If you don't, your skin will start to produce extra oils to compensate and you'll just break out more.
Also try the Oil Mattifier. It’s a lightweight formula that instantly absorbs oil and helps control shine. You can apply it over your foundation or beneath.

Pro Activ worked wonders for my skin back in hs. My skin hasn't even reverted back to it's state even after I finished my one-time purchase. I daily did the morning and night regimen provided in the kit and it really improved my skin. However I know people it did nothing for. I suggest giving it a try, drinking water, and abstaining away from dairy for awhile.

No, Pro-Active doesn't work. I have heard so many of my friends and family hate it. Best idea is to go to a dermatoligist. They will most likely give u a face wash or at leas tell u what one they like. Just make sure they look at ur acne and don't just perscribe something without checking u out.
