There are symbols for oil, but there are several ones depending on which oil you're talking about. For example, there's Light Sweet Crude, Brent North Sea, Heating Oil, etc. Each of these have their own symbols.

On the commodity market, Crude oil is CL, unleaded gas is HU, Heating oil is HO
