Yes - Pop culture is for the mindless masses. American pop culture is the bread and circuses of the 2000’s. It is like plugging into the matrix without the hardware. Most of American "pop” culture is filled with trash like mindless sitcoms, glorified little league babies that play professional sports, red neck rampaging, wanna be gangsters, rotten musicians that can't play anything technical and on and on.

I despise pop culture. I have not had cable TV for 5 or 6 years and I do not miss it. I usually have to be offered some "incentive" to go to the movies. We need to have more focus on science, technology and research as well as encourage children to become educated in something useful.

I think all of it is pure garbage.

1) It is garbage (like you say).

2) It has no educational effect

3) Teaches all negativities besides...maybe self-esteem and instilling the process of creating goals for future success in children.

4) Everything is either about sex, drugs, or alcohol or.. peer pressures' listeners/ viewers into the such by creating a curious settlement.

5) There are curse words in nearly every sentence.. They have no morals.. The subject itself maybe directed to a higher age group.. But, instead the majority is preteens to young adults...which breathe off of it...

Personally, I think it's entirely overrated!

In a country that is strong, the real achivers are held up as rolemodels for it's citizens. Things such as science and invention; innovative people. In such countries the "entertainers' were like traveling circuses or even the least of society.
Here today, the entertainers are the role model. And when this happens it is a definate indication of cultural decline.

I'm American and I absolutely hate our pop culture. It is so gross and wrong. I see what they are showing the youth today, and it makes you crings. I agree it is garbage, and I hate it.

yeah, mostly. Pretty much all pop culture is trash. But, I have never really been one to follow the herd. Why is this in politics?

Absolutely. What does it matter what famous people drive, eat, where they vacation, who they sleep with, etc.?

Life's way too short to worry whether or not Oprah is gay. WHO CARES?
