The best way to be paid what you are worth, or to be overpaid for that matter, is to (1) provide significant value to the organization, bordering on your being irreplaceable; (2) be willing and able to change jobs; and (3) ensure your management understands items (1) and (2) above, as well as your desired compensation, benefits and career opportunities.
Your boss may believe that you have not proven your value, he may believe you are not willing to leave the firm, or he may flat out be an untrustworthy individual who made the raise statement to bury the issue for a while.
Discuss the issue directly with your boss. Your question on this board is a perfectly acceptable format. Find out why you haven't received the raise. Remember, a promise from this person hasn't been worth much.
If you and your management cannot agree on your compensation, you should start looking for another employer, but do not let your frustration lead to burning bridges. Continue to work hard until your last day.

All right, heres what you do: -
1) Go to the darkest places you know in New York.
2) Get yourself in contact with some gun traders.
3) Bring the gun (loaded) back home.
4) Buy an electric stunner (the one ladies use to give a shock to those who are a pain in the neck).
5) Armed with those, go to work the very next day.
6) Keep those in your pocket and enter the building with an evil grin on your face.
7) Enter your boss's office.
8) Offer him something, like a nice salutation or a cigar (if it's a guy) or a very expensive chocolate (buy a cheap one, but pack it up with last years Christmass wrappers with rat poison mixed in it)
9) When the boss eats it, he/she dose'nt feel good.
10) Show him the gun and the stunner.
11) Then ask his/her last wishes, "What will it be? The brain or the testicles (if it's a male) "????
12) Well, rest assured, he/she gives you the raise, with a big 'R'.

Go into it with a clear head. Don't act like you desperately need it, and definitely don't insinuate that he broke a promise. What you need to do is act like you deserve the raise, and make him understand that you are willing to accept more responsibility. I never give a raise to an employee who 'expects' a raise just because they've been there for a while. I expect them to show me what they're worth. Ask him to do a performance evaluation, where you and he both fill out a questionnaire, and then you can discuss where you don't agree, and propose a course of action and reward.

I can say how not to. A man approached his boss and said, "I was concerning about your raising my salary." The boss answered, "No need to worry, I've been doing it alright so far."
I remember getting a raise once by a simple statement, "I got an offer from ---[other company]--- for --[higher wage]--." That meant that I had to look for it and get a higher wage offer.

Ask about your yearly evaluation. Most businesses have to have evals on the employees and with those come the raises. Ask about the eval and especially if you are doing a good job , then there shouldn't be a problem. Hope everything works out well for you.

the perfect aspect you may want to do is approach him and clarify your opinion with him. i imagine you're actual, if you're doing more effective than the finest man or woman, you deserve more effective pay. Be prepared for his part, however. He might want to imagine he can get some different person more less expensive, so be careful the way you play your playing cards. when you've defined and he nonetheless says he gained't pay you more effective, even as he promises a sparkling job, ask him how a lot is it properly worth to him? you're more effective looking for a sparkling pastime besides.
