Are we talking pre two and a half year gap or post? Honestly, Kankuro would deinatly win pre but it's be harder to tell post. Sakura became much stronger after training with Tsunade. But then again, Kishimoto derives a lot of influence from Toriyama, who is blantently sexist. So, probably Kankuro on both counts since most or the women in Naruto are much weaker compaired to the males in the series.
