I would have to go with "Edna", it seems to be so popular!
I had a Great Grandmother named "Laura Esther" we used to joke with her all of the time and tell her how lucky she was that her folks did not name her Polly Esther!
All jokes aside, if you are choosing a name for a child then you should consider that children will be calling her by that name, and will (if they can) turn the name into a joke. I always was "Roof Roof Ruthie", I was a homely kid with ugly glasses and I always hated my name! I had a friend named Mark that the bullies would walk behind him and say "Mark, Mark Mark", then say that was the way a dog with a hair lip would sound if it barked. So we became friends, and it was Roof, Roof, Roof and Mark, Mark Mark...It really seems like they could have come up with some fresh material, now after I started "blooming a little" they were less cruel to me, but I never forgot the torture. Mark continued to endure it all through high school, but both of us were admittedly nerds, I guess.
You have no idea how great it is to drive back to our hometown and stop in to watch the bullies that teased both of us! It's true revenge is a dish that is sometimes better if served cold! Now the bullies are working in dead end jobs with NOTHING to show for it. Both Mark and I have had some personal success, even with the adversity of the teasing in our pasts.
Still I think if I had to name a female child, I would choose a "regular name"...Mary or Cindy or Karen or Debbie, why start out with one strike against you to begin with?
